Senator Murphy reveals that Trump pardoned Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who created the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.
A PBS News article explains Zhao served prison time because criminals used his exchange platform to move money connected to child sex and drug trafficking as well as terrorism. Then Zhao asked Trump for a pardon to undo his conviction.
Trump now wants to purchase a stake in Binance to be funded by the Trump family’s crypto company World Liberty Financial (which made him $57 million last year).
