Trump and his family’s tax immunity deal would prevent the government from investigating Trump, his family’s and companies’ tax returns and also allow them not to pay back taxes.
A new bill called the “Presidential Tax Accountability and Audit Integrity Act“, introduced by Larson and his democratic collegues would prevent the IRS or Treasury from entering into any agreement that changes the federal tax obligations of the President, his immediate family, or interested entities while in office.
The bill stems from a legal dispute between the Trump and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which lawmakers labeled a “get out of jail free” tax scheme created by Trump so his taxes would not be audited for legal compliance.
Congressman Larson explained that “Donald Trump’s sham lawsuit was nothing more than an attempt to line his own pocket with your tax dollars” said Larson. “While his lackeys at the Department of Justice may claim that it (the lawsuit) is not moving forward, he still secured a sweetheart deal to shield himself and his own from ever having to pay the taxes they owe.
