What Alzheimer’s research cuts and firings mean to you

On March 3, 2025, the Trump administration stopped $65 million in funding for Alzheimer’s disease research at 14 Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers (ADRCs).  The administration also fired NIH scientists and workers sorely needed to advance Alzheimer’s research.

People diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and those at higher risk of getting the disease (such as children of parents with the disease) need to know that research funding cuts will stop  improvement of the current temporary treatments.  Also, Younger/Early-onset Alzheimer’s  happens to people in their 40’s and 50s, so funded clinical trials are required to approve new treatments that must be started early-on in the disease.

Research funding for Alzheimer’s has passed in a bipartisan way, largely because everyone knows family or friends who has/had the disease.  With truthful, continuing research and earlier diagnosis, we can stop Alzheimer’s from taking precious lives.

CTDOT Developing plan Realign the I91 Ramps at Exit 24 in Rocky Hill

    From the CTDOT website:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to realign the I-91 north and south ramps at Exit 24 in Rocky Hill. This project involves realignment of the I-91 north and south ramps at Exit 24. Slips ramps at the interchange will be removed to create shorter pedestrian crossings at the ramps. Full signal upgrades and integration into the Computerized Traffic Signal System are also included. The purpose of the project is to address the signalized intersections at the I-91/CT 99 ramps that were originally included in project 0118-0187 but were broken out from that project in order to expand the scope of work on the I-91 ramps, to include additional pedestrian safety improvements.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in April 2026, with construction anticipated to start in the Fall of 2026, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, receipt of any required right-of-way, and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with one hundred percent (100%) State funds.

It is the CTDOT’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken and important that the community share its concerns with the CTDOT to assist in the project’s development.
