Governor Lamont Signs Bill to Allow CT Residents to Sue ICE

CT Democrats fully supported a new law signed by the Governor limiting ICE agents actions as follows:

    • Disallows roundups at schools, churches and other sensitive places,
    • requires ICE federal agents be identifiable by name tag or badge number,
    • and gives the state’s inspector general jurisdiction to review use of lethal force by ICE, as he does with local police.

Democratic Senators Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Break Up Big Medicine

The “Break Up Big Medicine Act ” tackles a questionable business strategy called “vertical integration” that causes high healthcare prices for everyone.

In vertical integration, one company can own every part of the health care supply chain—from health insurance companies, to pharmacy benefit managers, pharmacists and even the physicians. By controlling all of the chain, giant pharmacy conglomerates could steer business to others in their supply chain. They could also avoid the laws that stop corporations from making illegal profits and potentially use the health providers they employ to boost government payments to make even more money for themselves.
