They expired January 1st\, and already\, families across the country are seeing rising costs. This week\, the House will vote to restore these credits and take action to lower costs.  \n\n\n\nIn addition to the cost of health care\, I know many of you are concerned by the Trump Administration’s actions in Venezuela\, including the arrest and capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro this past weekend. I oppose this military action and demand accountability and transparency now before the U.S. becomes entangled in another forever war.    As the new year begins\, I remain focused on protecting access to health care\, lowering costs\, and holding the Trump Administration accountable. There are several throughout the month of January. The walks are designed to get people outside\, to teach attendees about the various GMCT parcels\, to meet members of the GMCT\, and to learn about the work of the Trust. \n\n\n\nGMCT is a non-partisan land trust\, incorporated in 1968 by concerned citizens of Wethersfield\, Rocky Hill and Glastonbury as a non-profit tax-exempt land trust to protect and preserve the Great Meadows. \n\n\n\nJanuary 4\, 1:00pmMeet at the Meadows gate at 78 Goff Brook Lane (pictured)\, off of Old Main Street. Join GMCT president Tim Lewis on a hike to several of the parcels in the Rocky Hill Meadows. The walk will begin on the farm road\, and take a turn around the Goff Brook Trail in the DiPaola parcel\, and walk out into the Meadows\, noting the Nature Conservancy flood plain forest study transect and the planting of DED (Dutch elm disease) tolerant Elm Trees. \n\n\n\nDress for the weather and ground conditions\, including mud or snow. Weather and water conditions may revise or cancel. These areas are used for hunting\, so wear an orange vest if you have one. SUMMARY:First Day Hike\, Dinosaur State Park
DESCRIPTION:This is not a Democratic Town Committee Event \n\n\n\nDinosaur State Park – Rocky Hill\, CT  Join Dinosaur State Park staff and the Friends of Dinosaur State Park from 10:00am – 1:00pm for a guided hike on the Red Trail. Please meet at the Dinosaur State Park Outdoor Track Casting Area (towards the left side of the building when entering from the visitor parking lot). \n\n\n\nThe Red Trail is approximately 0.3 miles and very flat\, making it appropriate for all ages. However\, please make sure to wear appropriate winter footwear as the trail is mostly along a boardwalk which may be slippery when wet. The guided walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes. No pets are allowed on trails other than service animals (on a leash). Hikers should bring water and snacks as needed\, and dress appropriately for the cold weather. \n\n\n\nFrom 10:00am – 1:00pm\, Dinosaur State Park will also have a Tree Cookie New Years Resolution table activity\, campfire\, and hot refreshments provided by the Friends of Dinosaur Park and Arboretum. These events will be taking place in the Track Casting Area. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the indoor Exhibit Center will be closed throughout the event and there is only one clivus/composting toilet which is located to right side of casting area \n\n\n\nNo registration needed \n\n\n\nCancellation due to inclement weather will be posted on the Dinosaur State Park Instagram page. DESCRIPTION:Congressman Larson will discuss the following: \n\n\n\n\nHouse Republicans voted to advance a health care plan that does not extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits that more than 100\,000 Connecticut residents rely on. \n\n\n\nFour Republicans joined our effort to force a vote on a three-year extension of the credits\, but Speaker Johnson sent the House home for the holidays\, postponing that vote until January. Without action\, some families could see their costs double.  \n\n\n\nFamilies are getting squeezed by rising costs everywhere from energy costs to grocery bills. According to the Yale Budget Lab\, the average family will see $1\,700 in additional costs annually thanks to Trump’s tariffs. Prices of popular holiday gifts have soared compared to last year – increasing by an average of 26%. \n\n\n\nThe Congressman along with some other Democratic colleagues introduced a bill to end these costly tariffs now and lower costs.
