Trump’s Department of Justice has sued the state of Connecticut and city of New Haven alleging that the city’s “sanctuary policies” interfere with federal immigration enforcement.
The lawsuit names Governor Ned Lamont, Attorney General William Tong, and New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker as defendants, all of whom are calling the accusations unfounded.
Attorney General Tong responded that Connecticut is not a sanctuary city and defended the Connecticut Trust Act, which intends to “prioritize public safety and ensure that all people can trust and rely on law enforcement to keep us safe.” 1
